Our most recent concert was a joint venture with our friends at Inverurie Orchestra. We performed at St Machar's Cathedral on 22nd June and Inverurie Town Hall on 23rd June. This was Conductor Chris Gray's final concert with both orchestras, and we thank him for his skilled musical direction with us, having conducted us since 2022, and wish him all the best for the future.

The programme began with Johannes Brahms' stirring Hungarian Dances Nos. V & VI, led by Learig's Elaine Macrae as Principal Violin. This was followed by the world premiere of Pete Stollery's new commission for our orchestras: Un Pensamiento Trust que se aBila, for viola and orchestra. Soloist Nicola Boag beautifully portrayed "a sad thought danced." We are very grateful to Pete for writing this piece for our two orchestras.

The second half of the programme was dedicated to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite - a fantastic experience only possible due to the size of our combined orchestras. Inverurie's Aden Mazur led the orchestra in the second half.

The proceeds from the St Machar raised £872 for SAMH. We look forward to our next concert under the new directorship of Laurie Rominger.
